WoolSafe® Promotion And Advertising

The WoolSafe® Organization takes every opportunity to promote its services and networks to carpet owners, maintainers, carpet and carpet maintenance product manufacturers and suppliers.

We regularly attend industry conventions and tradeshows such as ISSA, Connections and Surfaces which offer a rich opportunity for advertising, teaching, learning and networking. We always have plenty of copies of our Network and Product Directories, information booklets, newsletter and various handouts to distribute free of charge.

Our advertising campaigns are far reaching, including over 40 articles in the trade and residential customer press every year. We also undertake targeted mailings on particular topics aimed at various sectors of the carpet industry.

The WoolSafe® Approved Mark has been in use for over 17 years and by now it is well known throughout the industry as a sign of excellence in carpet maintenance product performance.  WoolSafe® is reference in the 2009 IICRC S100 Carpet Cleaning Standard as well on many industry related websites.  For example on the Wools of New Zealand site (www.fernmark.com) it states:

CORRECT CHOICE OF CLEANING AGENTS

Wool and wool rich carpet yarns are always dyed under acidic conditions. Nylon carpet yarns are oftentimes dyed under acidic conditions.  If the cleaning agent causes the carpet to become alkaline, color bleeding is likely to result.  This may not occur the first time that the wrong chemical is used, but the effect can be cumulative and bleeding may take place after the third or fourth cleaning.

Problems may also arise if the cleaning agent dries to a sticky residue.  Such products are likely to promote rapid re-soiling.  This means that once the carpet has been cleaned it will become much dirtier in appearance far more quickly.

To avoid either of these risks, Couristan requires that any carpet they produce be cleaned using WoolSafe® approved chemicals.  The WoolSafe® program is an internationally recognized certification program used to denote that the product has been tested for its suitability for use on wool (and also acid dyed nylon) carpets. Suitable products are identified by the logo illustrated below and a comprehensive list of more than 150 approved cleaning agents, stain removal products and ancillary products may be accessed at www.woolsafe.org.

A detailed explanation of the evaluation tests carried out on the products and their relevance in every day carpet cleaning is given at our regular training courses for professional cleaners.

New chemical licensees and their products as well as the newly approved products of existing licensees are promoted in our newsletters and in press releases in the trade journals or residential customer magazines according to their type.

All chemical suppliers and their approved products are listed on this website with hyperlinks taking interested parties straight to the suppliers' own site for further information.

We promote the services of our networks of WoolSafe® Accredited service providers on all the above mentioned ways as well as in direct mailings to carpet mills, retailers, other interested companies and organizations, and corporate carpet owners. We regularly visit large retail groups and carpet mills in order to keep them abreast of the services and networks we offer.

There is a direct link on every page of this website for visitors to find a cleaner, inspector or supplier and view their company details. A hyperlink is provided for every company with a website.

We also provide the means for member companies to make their own advertising more effective by using the WoolSafe® Certified Operator Mark on their stationary, business cards, advertisements, company vehicles, etc. Artwork of the Mark is available free of charge from The WoolSafe® Organization.
